The purpose of this festival is for High School and now Middle School choral students to showcase their amazing talents and receive constructive feedback through a breif masterclass with an adjudicator.
There is an approved repertoire list for the 2024 District Solo & Ensemble Festival for each vocal part or ensemble. All submissions selections must be from the approved repertoire lists.
Applicants may include a solo performance by an individual or small ensembles. The same music educator should teach all students in each ensemble.
Provide an opportunity for vocal students to perform musical literature for evaluation alone and in groups.
Provide an opportunity for students to select and prepare solo and ensemble literature for performance.
Encourage students to perform solo literature.
Provide a formative tool so that students can self-evaluate and receive quality feedback about their technique and performance.
The eligibility rules for this festival are as follows:
All Eastern Shore choral student must be actively enrolled in the music educator's course or lessons for the 2024-2025 academic year or involved in performances as per the All-Shore guidelines. Music educator membership in ESCDA is required.
Regardless of musical ability, students who are not enrolled in the music educator's course or lessons for the 2024-2025 academic year are not eligible to participate.
